Ahead of Carbon Black World 2023, we spoke with Baoliang Ma, Professor of Engineering, VP and Member of the Board at Longxing Chemical Co., Ltd., to get a sneak peek of what we can expect from his presentation on 'Carbon black full life cycle carbon emission analysis'. Here's what he had to say...



 




Q1. Your presentation at this year’s Carbon Black World will cover 'Carbon black full life cycle carbon emission analysis'. Why is it important for others in the industry to hear this message? What are some of the key take-aways?

The topic of my speech on Carbon Black World Conference is " Carbon black full life cycle carbon emission analysis ". This topic is very important for every carbon black enterprise in the world today. The key point of my speech is to find the key links that cause the carbon emissions of the product through the analysis of the whole life cycle of "carbon black", that is, the whole process of carbon emissions from "cradle" to "grave", and provide a basis for further development of solutions.

Q2. What are the main challenges that the industry is facing and how do you think that this conference can address them?

The main challenge facing the industry today is how to solve the energy consumption of products and the resulting greenhouse gas emissions! There are many good topics in this meeting, such as r-cb and r-oil, which provide many good directions to solve these problems.

Q3. What do you think will be some of the most interesting advancements in materials or processing in the near future?

The raw material selection of carbon black in the whole industry will be transferred to new recyclable materials, and the production process will be transformed to low energy consumption and green energy utilization.

Q4. What are you most looking forward to hearing and/or seeing at Carbon Black World 2023?

Under the new economic background, we hope to discuss the plans and ways to achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals through the meeting together.
